NASCAR MEXICO CARLOS PARDO FATAL CRASH PUEBLA – 6/14/09


NASCAR MEXICO driver Carlos Pardo was leading the race on the 97th lap when his car was nudged by a competitor from behind and slid sideways into a wall at the entrance to the pit lane at about 120 mph Sunday. The car disintegrated as a result of the impact. Pardo was removed from the wreckage and sent by helicopter to a hospital. The NASCAR Mexico Web site reported that he died 45 minutes later. Pardo was later declared winner of the race in Pueblo, east of Mexico City. He won the series championship in 2004 and had 10 career victories in 74 races. Pardo made one Nationwide start in the 2006 telcel Motorola 200 at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez in Mexico City. He started 35th and finished 42nd after radiator problems knocked him out of the race. Pardo also made six Camping World East starts, twice finishing 11th.

  3. What do you expect man, it happened in Mexico. Plus it looks like the guy behind him watched too many episodes of “Crazy Police Car Chases” because he straight-up PITTed the guy into that barrier.

  6. omg…i feel bad for carlos and his family, but how in the heck did that happen? the track was apparently designed wrong because this shouldn’t have happened.

    Yeah, I feel sorry for the man.

    As for that commentator, he keeps on repeating “Que accidente..” and stuff like that.

  21. If the front of the car would hit a portion of that “barier”i don’t think that his accident would be fatal
    The front of the car is the most heavy cuz of the motor, at that speed if the front would hit that concrete wall, barier…. it wouldnt bend crushing the driver…

    only in mexico would a concrete wall be used on the track.why not throw some oil on the track as well.

    that’s make a crash even worse !
    they are to lazy to place a safe barrier !
